We are currently seeking an Intermediate Rigging Artist for our Vancouver studio. This is a project-based position working on a variety of projects and assets within a Rigging Department. The Rigging Artist reports to the Rigging Supervisor.

The ideal candidate will have strong MAYA skills, a good grasp of scripting, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in any given day. The Rigging Artist will be a part of the Rigging & Animation team and in regular contact with other department leads; good communication and problem solving skills are mandatory. 

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Rigger within live action VFX studio
  • Create realistic FK/IK rigs for a variety of humanoids, creature, and mechanical models
  • Thorough knowledge of weighting and skinning demonstrated
  • Ability to rig a variety of characters / objects in a realistic, non-cartoon manner
  • Assist in the creation of new rigs and rig components
  • Perform rig fixes and troubleshooting during production as requested by Character Supervisor
  • Solid knowledge of Character set-up and rigging tools in Maya
  • Production experience with Deformers, Constraints, Hierarchies, Utility Nodes, Expressions, Hair & Cloth
  • Experience in Python in Maya
  • Must have experience with scripting (Python, Mel)
  • Knowledge of Maya Api, PyQt, Pyside a plus
  • Knowledge of anatomy and a understanding of bio-mechanics, for humanoid and animals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced team environment
  • Experience mentoring junior artists
  • Positive attitude and flexible schedule
  • Must showcase an up-to-date demo reel demonstrating rigging abilities.
