Zoic is working on the VFX for an exciting Laika Studio stop-motion animated feature project that promises creativity, collaboration, and a fantastic chance to showcase your skills! Project contracts starting in 2025.

For this particular show Zoic employees assigned to the project will be working within our Zoic Vancouver Studios, in the Gastown Area (close to Waterfront Station Downtown).  Coming together as a team within our studio will help create the excitement and positive work environment we want for this special project.

Summary of Position
The Senior VFX Coordinator acts as a liaison between artists, leads, and production. This position organizes department reviews, takes notes, and tracks information while ensuring artists have all necessary materials and direction to complete their tasks correctly and on schedule.  

Job Functions

  • Ensure artists have all necessary materials, information, reference, and creative direction to complete their tasks correctly and on schedule. 
  • Schedule, prepare, and track submissions, and assist in running meetings, artist rounds, crew/department dailies, and reviews.   
  • Take notes and document all dailies, reviews, and meetings; publish notes and reference to department database in ShotGrid. 
  • Work with production to maintain and communicate weekly targets to artist teams based on scheduled milestones.  
  • Build and maintain department playlists, goals, and action items. 
  • Regularly check in with artists and leads regarding task statuses as well as up and downstream requirements; routinely update ShotGrid with the current statuses. 
  • Identify current or potential roadblocks and proactively problem solve prospective solutions or timely alternatives with diplomacy.  
  • Drive information to the production and leads regarding task statuses so that schedules and priorities can be adjusted accordingly. 
  • Work with the production and render wrangler to manage farm priorities. 
  • Secure materials, equipment, and software for crew, and forecast supply needs and track purchases. 

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years feature film or television experience, preferably in visual effects or animation. 
  • 5+ years’ experience coordinating groups of people. 
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and monitor progress across multiple, interdependent departments. 
  • Excellent organizational/communication skills and attention to detail. 
  • Proficient with word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), and other Office software skills.  
  • Working knowledge of ShotGrid software. 
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, a plus. 

Additional information

  • British Columbia Employees Pay Range: $25 - $35 (The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position)
  • Candidates MUST be located in the Lower Mainland, British Columbia.  This Role requires the candidate to work onsite, within our Vancouver Studio in Gastown. 
  • Zoic does not cover relocation costs.
  • Any and all remote positions require the candidate to have a reliable internet connection via ethernet and work on Pacific Standard Time.
